The Irvine North Chapter

In 2014, Irvine North received a charter and launched with more than 100 young men and their mothers. The organization is open to young men currently enrolled in high school, and their mothers, who reside in the City of Irvine.  Our NLYM Chapter allows involved mothers and their sons the opportunity for more in-depth access to charity, culture, personal and professional development.

Territories: Reside in City of Irvine , CA or the City of Irvine Unified School District boundaries
YM attends either Orange Lutheran HS or Mater Dei HS.

During the young man’s four years of membership, he is introduced to a comprehensive educational program with guest speakers, practical training and direct involvement in four areas:

  •     Leadership - Our young men are encouraged to serve in at least one leadership role such as their class board or a committee head during their membership.  They run their own meetings using parliamentary procedure and are encouraged to explore new ideas which focus on character development, responsibility, and accountability.
  •     Service - Our young men have the opportunity to serve the organization of their choice. Our hope is that they embrace service and find this work rewarding and important in their daily lives. We have volunteered with numerous community service organizations including Second Harvest Food Bank, Families Forward, The Ronald McDonald House, Isaiah House, The Surfrider Foundation, The Elk's Lodge, The Discovery Science Center, and Give Blood, Play Hockey just to name a few.
  •     Culture - We believe there is significant value in exposing our young men to cultural activities to encourage the growth of a well-rounded gentlemen through the promotion of literature, music and the arts. Each class has the opportunity to attend a cultural event as a group each year.
  •     Protocol  - Another essential component of our program is helping prepare our young men to be adept in social etiquette.  They are presented with knowledge and training to develop skills and confidence that will serve them well in the future.

We are growing as a chapter and are looking for new members in the incoming freshman and sophomore classes.

Our specific territory for membership is within the following boundaries:  the Northern boundary is Jamboree, the Eastern boundary is Santiago Canyon, the Southern boundary is Bake and the Western boundary is Irvine Center Drive to Sand Canyon to the 5 freeway.
